11. Afloat & Inland Repairs

Most of the floating repairs are carried alongside our berths, which are two in number on the east and west side of the dock. The yard offers 340 meters repair and lay-by wharves. The piled jetties are capable of mooring vessels up to 200 meters L.O.A. with a maximum draft of 8 meters. All our mobile cranes can be used to lift items off the ships at both our jetties. Our highly qualified and certified teams are available round the clock to be mobilized for any afloat repair job away from the yard. The mobile teams are fully equipped with all mobile equipment to carry out almost any repair above the water line on the exterior and almost all repair work on the inside of a vessel. Most of the works are carried out in the ports of Mombasa, Dar E Salaam and Zanzibar.

The department is capable of carrying out all marine works such as electrical work, steel and pipe work, engine repairs including turbines, machine repairs, cargo tank cleaning and demucking, anchor and cable repairs, servicing of electrical equipment, metal locking, metal spraying, painting using rollers and airless spray amongst others. Tanks in vessels such as sludge, slope, oil and water tanks are cleaned manually using dispersants and detergents
